So! it’s been a while! and it’s been hectic, but in a good way!
In the past month, I had two trips to Switzerland! One for fun, the other for work. The flight routing for each was pretty fun as well! Here’s the breakdown
- BA 52 [SEA-LHR] 777-200LR
- BA 716 [LHR-ZRH] 767-300
- LX 38 [ZRH-SFO] 777-300ER
- AS 247 [SFO-SEA] 737-900
- BA 48 [SEA-LHR] 747-400
- BA 716 [LHR-ZRH] 767-300
- LX 713 [ZRH-LHR] A320
- BA 49 [LHR-SEA] 747-400
So! for the fun part! I booked a kind of last minute trip to the Swiss Alps to hike and climb with a friend and a buncha new friends! I was able to snag an award seat in F for 85,000 AAdvantage miles. The itinerary included BA716 to ZRH! BA’s Cirrus-like seat isn’t the biggest, but it’s nothing to complain about! (dem sidewall panelz and window reveals…)
As opposed to the last time I flew this product, I wasn’t sick, so I was able to enjoy the wining and dining a bit more!
My #1 vacation rule is, dessert at every meal.
Bougy as fuck, I know…

Mind bending jet-lagged views.
After 6-hrs in the Concorde Lounge, I met up with Sara and Mary, and we hopped onto our next flight to Zürich!
So lounges! As usual, the Concorde Lounge at T5 is exquisite. The menus were top notch.
The LHR and ZHR Aspire lounges were not inspiring…
Meanwhile, SWISS’ lounge in Terminal E was a cut above the rest for a Business Lounge. They had a solid bar, wine bar, coffee bar, chefs for meals, and various rooms for sitting and sleeping.
Also, per Swiss custom, there was a dedicated space where they could push their superiority in watchmaking onto the flying public…
As for the flight portion, behold! their new 777-300ER!!!!! I booked this flight using 80,000 United miles.
The cabin has a classy and clean look. Though, the Thompson Aero Vantage seats were NOT comfy IMO… Otherwise, it was a middle of the pack business class experience.
Another Swiss tradition… “PUT A MATTERHORN ON IT!”
For the work portion of this post, I booked the usual BA48/49 itinerary. It’s been a while since I’ve flown on the queen of the skies!
We landed in Zürich at around 6pm, and got to the hotel around 7ish
The room at the Renaissance was pleasant
The return flight was delightful. Catering out of Heathrow is definitely better than SeaTac…
So more and more airlines are retiring their 747’s… I’m gonna miss these views…
