So this summer, Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors came to town, and mayhem ensued. Tickets sold out within minutes, the SAM’s website crashed, stores were looted, and minds were lost…
I decided to take a day off of work and managed to snag a ticket for a morning viewing of it all.
In my honest opinion,I’d rate it a 6.5/10… It was still fun, but the hype machine was in full force. They didn’t bring her best works, and the rooms were small, the space was crowded, the camera policy was a bit weird, and you had to be escorted into the pumpkin room??
I went solo though, so I was able to hop the lines, and a nice docent let me into a room by myself! 🙂
I do wish they brought more of her viewing boxes…
About a month later, Paul Allen’s Seattle Art Fair was back, and many galleries brought their Kusama pieces.
This fancy light fixture had it’s own room to itself
