So this trip involved flying on the Airbus A380 for a second time, and it was awesome as usual. Also, the return flight was on AA’s 777-300ER, which was a treat. It was my first time flying in a reverse herringbone seat. Points played a big role in all of the bookings, as usual.
The itinerary:
SEA-LAX: AS440
LAX-SEA: AS469
^these flights were covered by Citi Prestige’s annual $250 travel credit
LAX-LHR: BA282
LHR-LAX: AA135
^this was covered by the AARP and BA Avios promotion. Flying in business class across the pond cost $843 and 30k Avios points
LHR-GVA: BA730
GVA-LHR: BA725
^this was a business class award booking, costing 18k Avios points
In return, the points haul was:
British Avios points: 8,163
Alaska Mileage Plan points: 36,813
The OneWorld lounge at LAX was prettttty swank! It was pretty much the same as the Star Alliance lounge one floor below.
The usual BA seat and the usual upper deck stowages
I spy something that is not right.
AA’s reverse herringbone seat. Not bad! But you sit kind of far from the window…
LHR T3 gates don’t give you good views of the airplane. LAX’s satellite gates also give you shitty views of the airplane… airport designers, PLZ STOP DOING THIS!
