So 5-years ago, I flew SQ11 to Tokyo for work. Fast forward to a 2019, and I had a lot of SQ miles burning a hole in my pocket… So I transferred a few more miles into my account, and I bought a 1-way ticket to Tokyo for the Thanksgiving holiday.
My itinerary was nearly the same as last time. I took a morning AS flight out of SEA
Flying over the volcanoes never gets old…
One of the normal annoyances with connecting to international flights at LAX was needing to exit security, and re-enter at Tom Bradley Int’l… BUT NOW, you can walk through a new super long tunnel system!
Once there, I hung out at the *Alliance Lounge, which has aged well over the years. They had brunch and a noodle bar setup.
One sort of exciting thing was that they switched the equipment from the A380 to a 777-300ER! One sad thing is that they switched the equipment from a A380 to a 777-300ER…
^9V-SWT, WD709, Built in 2009
However, this 300ER had their new seat onboard!
The customized seat is from the French vendor, Stelia Aerospace
^I like the wreaths. Nice touch
They seriously put a lot of effort into the materials, textures, and touch points
One thing that bugs me is clear placards. They never look that great. Yet, every customer wants them…
One thing I love about flying SQ is the dining. Starters were marinated prawns, smoked salmon, and mesclun
Pan fried halibut with pesto veloute
They were rocking espresso makers onboard!
Then came movie time. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was weird…
^After this, I watched the Korean film, Take Point. It was much better.
Ramen snack during movie time!
I napped a bit after the films, and woke up for “lunch.” Seared lamp chops with tapenade!
One negative about SQ11 is that you get to Tokyo pretty late. One cool thing was seeing one of the few ANA A380’s about to depart for Hawaii!
Once I got through the in-the-process of being renovated customs area, I took the Narita Express to Tokyo Station, got to my hotel at around 10pm, and passed out.
