Calanque d’En-Vau – Pilier Droit de la Passerelle

So that first day, we went to the tourist center in town, bought a rock guidebook, chatted with some locals, and figured out what we wanted to climb. We had another early night, cuz we got up at like 4am the next day, to hike out to our objective…

Which was Calanque d’En-Vau!

We got here just in time for sunrise, and had the whole place to ourselves 🙂

After a small break to eat breakfast and putter around, we scrambed up the ledges to the west, and found the start of our climb

Somewhere along the second pitch or so

After a while, a family hiked in to swim, and a solo kayaker showed up! I really like the fact that Hello Kitty is a universal thing now

Looking at the climb we were going to do later

The Cassis is known for its limestone, and our route was first climbed in 1950. It was pretty dang polished…

The views were sick tho

Trying to fade out that bike shorts tan…

Did I mention this was all sport?

On the last pitch, Keith told me to hang out, and get some shots of Stephen

Which was a good idea, cuz the view back down was stellar

Stephen trying his best to get featured in next year’s Technique Extreme catalog

We couldn’t figure out whether the photo above was the one to submit, or if this was better

Stephen happy to be topping out

From here, it was just a few rappels to the beach!

Where we swam and hung out with the locals
