Another weekend meant another outing at Mount Rainier National Park! Today was purple shirt and blue sunglasses day. Only Amanda and Nicole remembered though…
Jet and Leonard being chatterboxes as usual. The range in the back is where we were last week!
Scott, with his wands, ready to set up the Nisqually Glacier golf course for the 38th annual chip and putt and mini-golf tournament! ok, just kidding.
There’s something really nice about being above the rain clouds… Also, Mount St. Helens, 35-yrs after its eruption.
The lenticular cloud was pretty dynamic… and awesome.
Once we got to a safe spot, we roped up and started towards the glacier
Rope Team One! Jet and Alex are up front…
…and Amanda with wand notification duty!
Goldfish snack break. The cliff to the right had a huge rockfall on our way back in the afternoon…
Who needs beaches when you have glaciers and padded belay stations?
Will being Will. I can’t decide which product ad this should be for…
Hanging out IN Mount Rainier!!!
In all seriousness, today’s outing was to practice crevasse rescue. We were lowered into a crevasse on Nisqually Glacier, and we took turns pulling each other out using the Z-Pulley System. While we were hanging out, we also worked on self-rescue techniques using a Texas Prusik. Also, apparently the soot and dirt in the crevasse is actually ash from the Mount St. Helens eruption
