Frankfurt

The hotel had a promotion where guests received free tickets to the SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE!!! (it’s an art museum!)

^Edvard Munch was in town, and yes, the museum must be spelled with ALL CAPS.

Home to the best Japanese food I’ve had in Germany.

Also, Frankfurt is home to the European Central Bank, which people loved to occupy.

^Also note, the movement’s English website is in German. Ironically, none of the tens of thousands of occupiers were versed in useful trades, such as web-design or languages, hence the occupying. JUST KIDDING! JUST KIDDING! JK! JK! JK!

Oh! Hey! Look there! A POLIZEI minivan!

These are the second friendliest riot police I’ve met!

^they’re topped only by the Vancouver PD.

Chocolate ad…

Also, on this trip, I was able to catch a symphony at the Alte Oper. The St. Petersburg Philharmonic was in town, so I got some standby tickets. On the program was:

  • Rossini’s Overture to The Barber Of Seville.
  • Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64
  • Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64

Finally at FRA and heading home!
