İstanbul

So one thing I didn’t mention is that we got sick in Cappadocia. Like, food poisoning sick… we believe it was a breakfast we had on the second day, but thankfully, it wasn’t crippling, because we had three days in Istanbul, and we were gonna see some shit!

So we arrived in the afternoon and promptly missed the bus of the hour to the city center. So similar to our previous travels around Turkey, we caught a cab to the hotel. Yay for cheap foreign cabs! How often can you say that???

First up was the Sultan Ahmed Mosque! AKA, the Blue Mosque!

dat detail…

So it’s super crowded there and tourists were herded into sections of the mosque, so we decided to leave and check out the Hagia Sophia, a former Christian church, later an imperial mosque, and now a museum

The walk from the Blue Mosque brought you across a nice park

There was a long line for the Hagia Sophia, but luckily it was moving quickly. Turns out there was some restoration work occuring, but the views looking up were still grand!

Cool candle chandeliers

Jesus was errrrwhere

Those details…

The Hagia Sophia had some windows that provided nice views of the Blue Mosque

Domes! and domes! and domes! and domes!

After that, we were feeling pretty crappy, so we found a pharmacy, bought some medicine, had a small dinner, consumed the medicine, and called it a night at 7pm.
