Tokyo, we meet again… But this time, for fun!
Actually, we were just meeting in Tokyo before departing for Hokkaido, but a free day is a free day! So the day started with a flight from Seoul, on a JAL 787-8, with their original J Product (which was perfect for the short flight).
So I’m gonna put on my airplane interiors hat for a bit, and comment on this particular configuration… JAL had the full-arch and half height bar unit/stowage at Door 2, and a bank of business class seats AFT of Door 2.
Not having a galley here, meant the flight attendants had to bring the meals/trays/silverware/etc to the bar unit (from the Door 1 galley), assemble everything, and then proceed with service. A Door 2 galley would make more sense for efficiency’s sake…
^the bar unit was always in use by the attendants, which defeated the purpose of a bar unit…
The meal did not provide a whole chicken, but contained many delicious components
^this flight’s movie of choice was Penguins of Madagascar…
Lastly, what would a 787 flight be without a shot of dat wing???
So I arrived in Haneda and proceeded towards the Tokyo Hilton. Later than afternoon, Karen arrived from PHL, and we met Aaron and Nozomi for dinner!
They put their heads together, so we did too. I was super jet lagged…
I’m always a fan of the views from the Hilton, and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of sunrise in Shinjuku…
I also had views of the tennis court, which was neat. I’ll have to play on it one of these days…
Not being on a business trip, I had some free time to wander around Shinjuku around sunset!
