This week’s climbing outing was spent trying to summit Gunn Peak in the Wild Sky Wilderness!

ANNND… This was our first outing where it DID NOT RAIN OR SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hike up to this point was ridiculously steep, somewhat wet, and required a ton of bushwhacking… but once we broke through the trees, everything was groovy.

By the time we got to our ridge waypoint, it was too late to head to Gunn Peak, so we decided to bag the closest thing, which was Peak 5760 / Wing Peak. Our instructor led the climb and set some protection on the summit block, so each of us could take turns reaching the summit:

On the way down, we ran into two other climbers who were also trying to reach Gunn Peak. They had to turn back due to cornices, slush, and general crappiness… so things turned out for the best!
