There were some personnel changes at work, so I had to cover a meeting in Tokyo. Thus, just 23 days later, I returned to Tokyo. The days were pretty packed, and it was reallllly hot and humid, so I was pretty wiped out.
I countered these conditions with copious Pocari Sweat, but even that wasn’t enough sometimes.
Other annoyances with this trip would include Air Canada… My itinerary had flying SEA-YVR-NRT. What happened was:
- Outbound Flight: The positioning flight never arrived, thus we missed our connection to Tokyo.
- Return Flight: Air Canada simply cancelled the scheduled flight…
- Customs and Border Patrol: default search.
Not everything was bad though:
- I ran into a random Boeing Research and Technology team that was booked on the same AC itinerary. We were able to meet up and explore Tsukiji Fish Market on the last day.
- The Interiors Flammability Team was also visiting the supplier, so I had folks to get dinner with. Thus, I got my yakiniku fix on the first night!
- Most importantly, I had a chance to try out some Mexican Lasagna at one of Shibuya’s finest Tex-Mex restaurants (with Aaron-san).
- Actually… I don’t think I touched that dish. I stuck to the nachos.
YVR to NRT… The views along the Inside Passage were spectacular
^the 767 has tiny windows with weird coatings, which resulted in reflections.
Instead of the Narita Express, I tried the Keisei Skyliner Express, which gets you to Shinjuku Station in 1-hr (but w/ one transfer).
