We left our hotel bright and early, ate some mochi donuts from Dunkin Donuts and said our goodbyes. Unfortunately it was raining like nothing else, so my flight was delayed a couple of hours. Luckily, HKT airport has a second floor where you can kinda chill… I passed time watching people react when the power went out and editing photos.
I came across this Thai Airways restaurant. The waiters and waitresses were dressed in flight attendant uniforms.

I finally got into sunny Bangkok late in the afternoon. BKK airport is ridiculous. Not quite as baller as Changi, but still reallllly nice:

Waiting for our luggage to arrive… took… forever…

Throughout the trip, I’ve used public transport when available, and Bangkok was no different. I bused to a transit station, then transferred buses and headed to Victory Monument via help of a local. From there, another local guided me to the Sky Train station, which I took to my hotel. It took well over an hour… but everyone had been super helpful!
I must say, Park Plaza Hotels are freaking slick:

If i’m sitting on the bed, this is my view to the right:

Kinda awkward, but very neat! I could watch TV while showering!
I got HUUUUNGRY so I left to explore. Here is the view from Asok Station:

I headed to Paragon Mall to explore their epic food court:

*Note that I couldnt fit the mall into one photo while using my widest lens…
So here is the food court inside of the food court. One had to buy a re-fillable payment card to eat at these local hawker-style spots. I believe it was the curry shop that ended up giving me food poisoning…

delicious delicious food poisoning…
After that, I wandered into the grocery store and came across one of the most epic/sensory overload/omg aisles ever. I stared for a bit, then stared at people staring at it. Then loaded up on junk food, betagen, and aloe drinks and returned to the hotel…

I should have day 2 of Bangkok posted this weekend.
