5-Seenweg

The next day, I went to the SBB station, got a 1/2-price pass, and a ticket to Zermatt

Four hours later, I was in town. Zermatt sees a lot of mainland Chinese tourists. I’m curious what the intent of this was…

Anywho, I found a spot for dinner, and called it an early night. The next day, I took the funicular up to Sunnegga, and hiked up to Blauherd, and found the trailhead. The views were pretty classic

Ohhh, I will climb you one of these days…

Along the trail were these marmot sculptures

The first lake was pretty slick

One of the classic views in Zermatt brochures…

The second lake was really small, but offered this view. There was a line of folks waiting to get this shot…

With a foreground!

After the hike, I hung out around town, found a spot for dinner, and fell asleep early.

So, the plan for this first week was to meet up with Keith, and my cousin, Stephen. Then we’d climb Zinalrothorn and Obel Gabelhorn… However, the forecast started to change for the week. The next morning, we all had a small conference call and decided to seek better weather in France. The new plan was for a day in Chamonix, and the rest would be spent in Les Calanques.

That meant, Keith would descend from the Monte Rosa hut, and head back his spot in Chamonix, and Stephen would also head straight to Chamonix from Genève.

Meanwhile, I would head to GVA to rent a car using my corporate discount.

For the second time this year, I got a Ford C-MAX, 6-spd 🙂  The drive to Chamonix was preeetttttty slick.
