Summer

So this summer, I signed up for a rock climbing class. The class focused on crack climbing, and following trad. The first outing was at Leavenworth, and went over a lot of skills and technique. On the second day, we got to crag. It was rad.

For the second outing, we went to Squamish, BC, for two days of climbing. This is where things started to click a bit… I’d say that I’m pretty comfortable with what I climb… and having never climbed cracks before, it was fun to struggle on routes, and new things!

Instructors setting up routes!

I also signed up for a Masters Frisbee league… which means 30+. It was super fun, and Craig and I went to a Mariners game. I had never been so close to a pro athlete before…

Notice that the pitcher still has the ball in his hand, and the batter has already his swing. The timing and mechanics of baseball are weird.

The third outing for the rock climbing class was also in Squamish. I love this bridge…

I followed Rose up Rock On! which was SO FUN. Finger cracks are my jam apparently.

I don’t know what this other team was climbing, but it looked realllllllly intense.

We met some Canadians below us. They were friendly, and gave me some tips.

WORKIN’

When we got to the top, another team on Calculus Crack showed up!

Rose takes photos! woo!

On an off weekend, Liz and I went to Exit 38 to crag, and stumbled upon a three pitch climb. We swung leads. It was my first time leading a multi-pitch climb!

The camera case got in the way… but I still like the photo.

Liz working on the crux. It was hard on top rope… can’t imagine onsight-ing it.

We made it! All smiles at the top!

Oh! and I went to my first Seahawks game, courtesy of work! I forgot how boring live football can be…
